Love my slavabear!!!

William's stocking just arrived... our mantle finally looks complete.

Thankful.

William is napping, Slava is at school and Marc is at work... I'm enjoying the last peace and quiet I will have for the next several days. We are hosting Thanksgiving this year... a tradition we began when I was working in retail and would need to be in the stores super early the following morning. The older I get, the more I understand and appreciate this wonderful holiday. We will have over 15 people at our house for dinner this year and although it may be a little crowded, I am so blessed that our family continues to grow. I love all this Holiday stands for... family, togetherness, appreciation and of course, good food :)

This year, I must say the thing I am most thankful for is the HEALTH of all those I love.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone... hope your day is filled with peace and love.

Just a couple recent pics...

Memory eternal, my angel mother...

Time flies...

Finding time to update the blog gets harder and harder now that I have a toddler running around the house! That's right, William is now walking... walking everywhere and getting into EVERYTHING!!! He went from 0-60 in the matter of about 2 weeks. He is completely steady on his feet now and rarely falls. It is so incredible to see him walking with such ease and confidence - I know I say this every time but I couldn't be prouder of my little man. To think this is the same little boy that couldn't even sit up by himself 5 months ago... I am constantly astonished by his determination and "will" power (pun intended!).
Last week we rented a minivan and drove 8 hours to Pittsburgh, PA - my hometown - to have William baptized. My brother (the godfather) came with us and my sister also made the drive with 4 out of 6 of her children. My oldest niece, Alex, is the godmother. The drive was actually bearable - the boys were great... we brought lots of movies and snacks. I don't often go "home" ... as my father now lives in California and my mom passed away 12 years ago. It's so bittersweet each time I visit... good to see the old sites and eat some of the best food in the country but my heart still goes right back to losing my mom. I took Marc and the boys to my Mom's grave, drove past my childhood home and went to my favorite pizza shop and sandwich place. We ended the weekend with the baptism of my sweet angel, William. We also had memorial services for my Mom... a wonderful yet heartbreaking day ... but all worth it because I know my Mom was proud.
Yesterday was the actual anniversary of my Mom's passing... she was 51 when she left us... and I was a mere 24 years old. That day is always difficult ... it's complexity deepens even more now that I have a family. To think my boys will never know her, never hold her hand or feel her hug breaks me into a thousand pieces.  However, I  know it was her that helped bring our boys to us... and I know it was her that slept next to them and protected them when they were thousands of miles away from us. She inspires me each day to be the best wife, mother and person I can be. I still hear her voice and it guides me each and every day.

LIFE IS GOOD.
